Broadway-Bound Dancer Workshop

For the dancer who dreams of being on Broadway or becoming a star in the entertainment industry

WHO: Classes are taught by OCU’s nationally recognized faculty.

WHAT: This workshop program is for high school students ages 15 to 18 who are interested in the vast world of Broadway and entertainment dance. The 11 day workshop experience is packed with over 70 hours of dance classes and rehearsals focusing on multiple dance techniques used in the entertainment industry. Each class has been created to encourage technical growth and personal development. The workshop will culminate with a showcase performance on Saturday, July 20th. Family and friends are welcome to attend – free of charge.

Tapestry Dance: 2013 Summer Intensives

WHO: Instructors include: Keith Cross, Marc Wayne, Quinton Weathers, Grace Holmes, Lezley Farmer, Sharon Marroquin, Will Walker, and more!

WHAT: Tapestry summer intensives are for middle school – high school students who want to improve their dance skills. Dancers will practice technique daily, create twp performance pieces, study dancer health, and bond with new friends.

WHEN:
Ballet/Modern: June 17-21, June 24-28, July 8-12

Drill Team: June 24-28

Musical Theater: July 15-19, July 22-26

Contemporary/Jazz: July 29-August 2, August 5-9

All sessions are 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Monday – Friday

Diavolo: Fox Flyers Adventure Camp

WHO: Diavolo Dance Theater is an internationally renowned modern acrobatic dance company. Diavolo company members are dancers, gymnasts, actors, athletes and, above all, teammates. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Jacques Heim, the Company has developed a reputation for stunning, innovative movement on oversized surrealistic sets and everyday structures.

WHAT: NOW A FAMILY CAMP! Drop your kids off, or stay and play for a movement experience the whole family can enjoy. Learn to Dance, Fly, Catch in Diavolo’s own creation studio on the company’s unique sets and structures!  Launch into imagination and creation! Learn to Trust and work together to accomplish the Impossible!  Be Daring, Get Super, and Have Fun! Recommended for Ages 8-14 years – but all levels of experience and adults are welcome!

Bhumn Dance Forum 2013

This workshop invites dancers ages 10 through college to an intimate space, where the students get the benefit of working in small groups with the choreographers to establish relationships that will help them further their dance career goals and take them to the next level in their training.

 

WHO: This year’s faculty includes Tre Holloway (Chris Brown tour, Kylie Minogue tour), Jonathan Campbell (Juilliard graduate, MADboots), Shelly Hutchinson (SYTYCD, Broadway Dance Center), Anthony Morigerato ( NUVO, America’s Got Talent), Anthony Lomuljo (Juilliard graduate, Goteberg Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet), and Cindy Salgado (Juilliard graduate, Kidd Pivot)

WHAT: Spend up to three weeks training in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Improv, Choreography, Hip Hop, and Tap with teachers from New York to San Francisco. The focus of this forum will be to find value in the transfer of information from one genre of dance to the next and to encourage a strong versatile dancer. At the end of the week there will be a performance of works choreographed by students and faculty.

The Little Mermaid

WHAT: This original retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic combines modern technologies and the ancient art of storytelling to put a new twist on this well-loved fairy tale.  Using  projections, fabric and a whole lot of theatre magic, the ocean comes to life (along with your imagination) in this one-person journey of love, sacrifice and courage.  For ages 6 and up.

WHAT: The Sound of Music is one of the most beloved musicals of all time. The image of Julie Andrews twirling atop mountain scenery singing ‘The hills are alive . . with the sound of music . .’ is probably one of the more iconic scenes in film history. The Sound of Music has been seen by millions of people throughout the world. It has a little something for everyone – a love story, a little action, cute children, nuns, and a whole lot of singing!

WHAT: Due to popular demand, Cedar Park Center is pleased to announce the 2013 Ben Hur Shrine Circus is returning to Cedar Park Center January 18-21, 2013 for days of enchanting elephants, tantalizing tigers, and amazing acrobats prepared to dazzle and astound. This year’s Shrine Circus has a Broadway theme—including an original new score, beautiful new costumes, and thrilling feats, many never attempted in the US previously.
